PaddleFit Race Pod
Women's Race Training Pod was born out of a conversation between
Auckland PaddleFit Coaches Victoria Stuart (Starboard SUPSNZ) and Helen Blair
(CitySUP) about how we can increase women's participation and give them
more confidence in the sport we love.
Our aim is to demystify Stand Up Paddle
racing and what it means to "compete", to help you believe in your
abilities and to achieve your goals.
Race Pod brings together a community
of women to empower and motivate one another to go further, go faster
and have more fun.
Practically that takes the form of weekly PaddleFit Race Training Sessions, training plans tailored to your needs and a social forum for connecting our group, as well as PaddleFit Tech I & II classes, Learn to SUP programs and teambuilding events. And of course, as coaches we are accessible to guide and encourage as well as offering the benefit of our SUP expertise and experience.
Helen Blair discovered stand up paddling and a love of the ocean aged 40. Over a 20 year career
in Human Resources as an academic and then with the BBC, Marks &
Spencer and Fonterra, coaching leaders and teams became second nature.
She then discovered being
a SUP coach was an amazing way to help people to balance mind and body
on the water. Starting her own business last year, CitySUP now offers a
range of stand up paddling experiences in and around Auckland. Helen
lives in the Eastern Bays with the Kiwi boy who brought her to New
Zealand 10 years ago (and two adorable spaniels). When not walking her
dogs or on the water, she's in the forest improving her mountain biking
skills ... always something to be learning.
PaddleFit Pro Coach Victoria Stuart has been paddling for over ten years
and in 2017 placed third in the NZ SUP Nationals Surf Race, and fourth
in the 15km Distance Race. Her passion is motivating people of all ages
and abilities to get out on the water, and alongside her daily
PaddleFit classes on the North Shore and City side, Victoria partners
with Lou James and physios all over NZ to deliver the PaddleOn Cancer
Rehabilitation Program for Pinc and Steel Cancer Rehabilitation Trust.
When not out on the water, the Mum-of-three can be found behind the
scenes managing a multitude of SUP events, including Paddle For Hope,
NZSUP Nationals and the popular Pod Womens Wellness Retreats.
